Games Machine betaDownload
No CD select any level patch (Thanks to b122251)
This beta was released by The Games Machine, an Italian gaming magazine that seems to be a legit publication. Surprisingly, the beta contains all the levels. It's normal for a gaming magazine to include a CD with single level demos, but it's hard to imagine they got Eidos' permission to release this, we should be thankful none the less. Despite including all the levels, the original EXE doesn't allow access to any levels beyond Lost Valley. Using b122251's patch however, you can access all the levels. Copy the DATA and DEMODAT folders into the beta's folder on your hard drive, and make sure to run it using Game.bat.
- Some of the sound effects are different, including the foot steps (which are the same as in the cut scenes and July/August 1996 Sega Saturn betas) and pistols
- In some of the levels, Lara's starting position is in a random spot far from where it is in the final version
- The later levels have a map device in the inventory instead of the compass, like in the Work in Progress Version, except that it's glitchy and nonfunctional here
- The Atlantis level file contains models for an Atlantean dinosaur (also seen in the Tomb Raider Files book) and fish. These enemies were deleted in the final version, and don't even make an appearence in this beta, but they can be seen in the video below
